My Husband gained most of His Online Experience on a very big Auction Site in 2001. I know You can guess which one it was. I am Hesitant to write it down. The Sells was high the Profits great. Much higher than 1-2 Dollars. He had been Selling other Products from Garage Sales, Yard Sales, and had a pretty solid base of Customers expecting the same great Quality they had been receiving. At first it seemed every one was happy with Their Purchase. The Feedback He was receiving was Positive. As He discovered later, the Positive Feedback was coming from his current base of Customers that just didn’t want to complain. All of a sudden Boom!!!!!!! My Husband started responding as fast as possible to try and save his Business. He began by asking the complaints to send back the DVD’s. When the first one arrived We put it in our DVD player. The Language was in Japanese. The DVD had a setup menu where the Language could be set to English, but it was wrote in Japanese and was hard to Navigate. We had to guess. Some of the returned DVD’s mostly Walt Disney had Foreign Writing and markings on the Disk and Box. Some of the returned DVD’s would not even play in Our DVD Player, but would in Our Computer? (Bootleg). The DVD’s that did play either did not have a great picture Quality, are was not in sink with the Actors Lips. Some of the Actors listed or Pictured on the box where not even in the Movie. Some DVD’s where not even in a Box, but a Plastic CD case or holder like from Wal-Mart for Your CDR’s. My Husband was taking the Box’s of DVD’s to His Nephew and dropping a Mailing list off to him each week to send out His Nephew was just happy to be making a few Dollars a week. 16 Years old then. My Husband Immediately started Refunding the Returns. He told the rest of the Customers that complained to not even pay to ship the DVD back just to throw it away. He had so many Negatives, that the Auction Site suspended his listing Privileges and closed His Account for Investigation. When the results came back from the Investigation He was Accused of selling Bootleg DVD’s. The final result was a Indefinite Suspension that was 8 Years ago. He had no access to His account to finish making amends. My Husband was already ahead in the situation and had printed out all the complaints And negative Feedback. He was working on them during Breaks and Lunch at Work. He had all the Names and Address’s . He was writing them asking how he could make amends to their Satisfaction. Some just wanted a Refund. Most wanted the DVD they ordered, as USA Product which at that time meant Retail for us. In favor my Husband explained His Situation to the Customers and asked them if They would Write to the Auction Site. He asked that they explain that He stood by his 100% Guarantee and meet Their Satisfaction. Most added that They would like for him to return, so they could buy from a dealer that would work so hard to meet Their Needs and stand by His 100% Guarantee. We went to one of Our Payment Sites to obtain Funds to meet Our Customers Demands. Boom!!!!!!! All over again my Husband was shocked to find His Account was closed and all the Funds where being held for 6 Months. We had to borrow Money from Our Parents to replace DVD’s from Wall-Mart, Target, and Specialties Shops for the hard to fine Walt Disney DVD’s. Who knew Disney DVD’s where so expensive. My Husband quickly went a couple of thousand Dollars in the Whole. All the expense finding, traveling etc.. All to Meet the 100% Satisfaction of His Customers. 6 Months later, When the Funds Where finally released, His Funds There was only 750.00 Dollars and some odd Cents in it. No where near what was suppose to be there. Most of the same Customers that we sent Retail DVD’s to and refunded had applied and received refunds from the Payment site also. Sad to say but my Husband and I are able to spot these bootleg DVD’s out pretty easy now. We still see People Selling them on all the Auction sites. Usually if the Starting bid or sell Price on a Brand new Sealed DVD is extremely low compared to Retail, especially the Walt Disney ones Than They are Bootleg. Just be careful, My Husband learned the hard way.
